If you want to look and feel your best, it’s important to wear clothes that fit. Regardless of your size or what type of body shape you have, when your clothes fit well, you look amazing. While this is important, there is no need to hire an expensive tailor for these services. Instead, learn a few do-it-yourself techniques that really work.

Turn Regular Jeans to Fashionable Skinny Jeans

If you want to make your shoes the star of the show and turn your regular jeans into skinny jeans, first step is to gather supplies. You need a measuring tape, chalk, fabric scissors, iron, sewing machine, sewing pins, thread.
Next, put your jeans on and pin up the new hemline. Take the jeans off and add one inch to the new hemline to make room for the actual hem and mark the new line with your chalk. Once marked, cut it using sharp scissors.
Put your jeans on inside out and stand on a chair. Ask a friend to pin the new seam along each of the sides of the legs. Be sure to taper the seam as you move down the leg, so it is narrowest at your ankle. After the pin line is in place, use your sewing machine to sew the new seam.
If you are concerned that skinny jeans aren’t right for you, think again. These look great on all body types. You can even try the Thrive Experience if you want to lose a few extra pounds before you wear this fashion-forward item.

Make the Waist on Your Jeans Larger

Has the waist on your favorite pair of jeans become a bit too snug in the waist? If it has, but the jeans still fit properly everywhere else, don’t worry. You can make these jeans fit properly once again.
The first step is to remove the back-belt loop (the one in the center) using a seam ripper. Use your measuring tape to figure out the waistband’s circumference and write the number down (you will need it later). Use scissors to cut down the back center of your jeans to the yolk. You can cut down more if you need to make room in the hips, too.
Measure around the hips or waist. Subtract waistband’s current circumference from measurement to decide how wide of a piece of denim is needed to make them slightly larger. Add an inch for the seam. If you don’t own a serger to finish the raw edges left on your denim piece, you can use the zigzag stitch option on your sewing machine.

Buy Clothes that Fit Well

If you want to prevent having to make the adjustments mentioned here to your clothing, the best thing you can do is to make sure you purchase clothing items that fit properly. Take some time to try on several pairs of jeans, shirts, and any other clothing item that you may be interested in purchasing.
You want clothing that fits your body, without being too big or too small. While this may seem tricky, there are more than a few benefits offered by choosing clothing items that fit you properly in the beginning.
As you can see, there are several ways that you can adjust your current clothing to make it fit your current body. While this is a great way to save money, use caution. Make sure you follow the steps carefully to avoid any issues with the process. In the long run, buying new clothing that fits your body may be best.
When you wear pieces that fit you well, you will look and feel amazing, which is going to give you more confidence and help ensure you look amazing in anything that you wear.
